Day 1
Tuesday October 26
Board your overnight transatlantic flight.
Day
2 Wednesday October 27- In the safety of Ignorance
Arrive in Bucharest, Otopeni airport, and transfer for a short sightseeing
tour of the main boulevards on our way to the hotel. "Jonathan
Harker" dinner at "Count Dracula's Club" and overnight
in Bucharest at 4-star Hotel Lebada or similar.

3 Thursday October 28 - The Night of Prince Vlad the Impaler
Dracula
The Dracularian parts of Bucharest, like the ruins of his court will
begin your initiation today. Sightseeing of Bucharest including Old
Court, Manuc's Inn, Military Museum, Stavropoleos Church; Visit Manole's
church in the Curtea de Arges and Poienari the ruins of historical
fortress Dracula. Overnight in Arefu in a family run farmhouse.
Option: "Night of Prince Vlad Dracula", performed by 20
farmers followed by dinner at the farmhouse.

4 Friday October 29 - Beyond Transylvania
Cross the mountains into Transylvania. Visit Castle Bran, a fake Castle
Dracula, set in the way of the genuine castle in order to stop the
mobs from pestering the solitude of the Count. Overnight in Poiana
Brasov at 4-star Hotel Casa Viorel or similar.
Option: Dinner with typical Romanian music at a local restaurant in
Poiana Brasov.

5 Saturday October 30 - The Witch Trial
The best-preserved 15 th century town in Europe is Sighisoara, in
the center of Transylvania. Sightseeing of medieval Brasov, including
the Black Church and Councilor Square. Onward to mediaeval Sighisoara
where we will visit the Clock Tower, Weapons Museum, and Evangelical
Church. Transfer to Targu Mures for overnight at 3-star Continental
Hotel or similar.
Option: Lunch in Vlad Dracula's birth-house. Option: "The Witch
Trial" show.

6 Sunday October 31 - Halloween Party at Castle Dracula
One hundred years ago, Jonathan Harker left a few notes in his diary,
as published in Bram Stoker's novel "Dracula". The Count
appointed Harker at the Golden Crown Hotel in Bistrita. Proceed along
the Borgo Valley, to Borgo Pass where the Castle rises majestically
above the forest line. Welcome to Castle Dracula! Visit the Dracularian
parts of Mediaeval Bistrita. Bring your favorite costume to these
evenings Halloween party, complete with dinner, dancing and a visit
to Dracula's crypt. Overnight in Bistrita at 3-star hotel Castle Dracula
or similar.
Option: Lunch at Golden Crown Restaurant.

7 Monday November 1 - Return from the realm beyond
Exit the domains of the Count and return into this world via the route
of river Bistrita. Cross back into Transylvania through the most spectacular
gorges of Romania Bicaz, and arrive in Medieval Brasov by sunset.
Sightseeing of spectacular Bicaz Gorges and Red Lake. Overnight in
Brasov at 4-star Hotel Aro-Palace or similar.

8 Tuesday November 2 - So Long, Dracularians!
After breakfast, an early departure for Otopeni airport.

Halloween Party:
Will be hosted at the Castle Dracula Hotel and will include a 3-course
dinner, Dracula Elixir (red plum brandy) with a half bottle of wine
per person , dance music, bonfire and a visit to "Dracula's crypt".
Bring your favorite costume or mask, to make this evening memorable.
Farmhouse
stays in Arefu village:
In Arefu village, the farmhouses normally offer 1 bath with hot and
cold running water, shower and toilet common to 2 or three rooms.
These are the accommodation condition in the farmhouses. Daises, instead
of stars are used to classify family run houses for agro-tourism.
The houses we are using in Arefu village are ranked for 2 daisies.
The
traditional village of Arefu is located at the end of 3km of unpaved
road in the upper Arges Valley. Experience the hospitality of people
who still recite tales passed down from ancestors who helped Vlad
the Impaler escape the Turks from his nearby castle at Poienari.

"Night
of Prince Vlad Dracula" option:
Performed by local amateur actors and/or locals. The Night of Prince
Vlad show is a recall of how in 1462 the Arefeans (inhabitants of
Arefu village) rescued prince Vlad from the Turks soldiers and kept
him safe. Around a bonfire, locals dressed in folk garbs will remember
this chapter from prince Vlad's reign. Folk dances, music, plumb brandy
will accompany this tale.
"Witch
Trial" option:
In Europe's Mediaeval Age, between 15 and 18 centuries, witch trials
were normal events in the society. Jules Michelet said that some 200,000
women and men were burnt as witches and wizards. The last witch-trial
in Transylvania took place in 1753. The show will be performed in
the mediaeval citadel of Sighisoara by 20 local actors recall an original
witch trial - a page in our history as humans.
