royal palace, the Louvre now houses one of the world's most impressive
collections of art. The building itself is a work of art with all
of its exterior walls covered in statues and the entrance which is
a futuristic glass pyramid in the central courtyard. Inside, the gallery
is separated into 4 areas from Ancient Egyptian art through to modern
art. It also houses possibly the world's most famous painting, Da

Today you will head out to Versailles for a wonderful half day tour.
The Chateau de Versailles was originally a grand hunting lodge built
for King Louis XIII around 1630. It was enlarged to its present size
around 1676 and the gardens started in 1687. The sheer size and grandeur
of the palace (the façade is 580 meters long) is best enjoyed
from the formal gardens which are laid out in a 'formal' style and
also contain the 'Grand Trianon' and the 'Petit Trianon' -small palaces
built as retreats for the royal family.
