Day
1 - Arrival in Iceland - If time allows visit the Blue Lagoon
and explore the Reykjanes Peninsula.
Overnight in one of our Fosshotels in Reykjavik or similar.
Day 2 - Drive along the scenic Whale-Fjord and explore the
Saga Valley Borgarfjörður with waterfalls, hot springs and
historic sites.
Stay 2 nights at Fosshotel Bifröst or similar
Day 3 - Snæfellsnes Peninsula awaits you. Visit and view
the many old houses of the pretty fishing village Stykkisholmur. A
special attraction is the
glacier covered volcano, Snæfellsjökull, and weather allowing
you could take an optional snowsledge tour to the top.
Day 4 - Go North - Drive north to Skagafjörður, the
valley of the horses. En route we recommend river rafting, horseback
riding or driving around
Vatnsnes Peninsula and a walk to the seal colony at Hindisvik.
Stay 2 nights at Fosshotel Áning or similar.
Day 5 - We recommend you drive to Siglufjörður - the
capital of Herring Fishing, stopping en route at the historic sites
of Holar, and a visit to the local folk museum and torf farm at Glaumbær.
Day 6 - Visit Akureyri, the capital of North Iceland, and Goðafoss
- the waterfall of the Gods.
Stay 3 nights at Fosshotel Laugar or Fosshotel Húsavík
Day 7 - Explore the natural wonders of Lake Myvatn, the hot
springs at Námaskarð and the lava fields at Krafla.
Day 8 - We recommend a whale-watching cruise from Husavík
and a visit to the unique whale museum there.
Day 9 - Drive around Tjörnes Peninsuula and visit Europe's
most powerful waterfall Dettifoss (mid June - August) before driving
on to East Iceland.
Stay 2 nights in the Egilsstaðir area at Fosshotel Reydarfjörður,
Hallormsstaður or Valaskjálf.
Day 10 - Spend your day relaxing or walking around Lake Lögurinn
and Hallormsstaður Forest, or driving to Borgarfjörður-Eystri
with beautiful ryholite mountains.
Day 11 - Enjoy the dramatic fjord landscape and fishing villages
of the East Fjords before reaching Europe's largest glacier, Vatnajökull.
Overnight at Fosshotel Vatnajökull or similar
Day 12 - A long drive with many natural wonders awaits you
today as you pass a glacial lagoon, Skaftafell National Park, many
waterfalls, black lava beaches and rugged lava fields.
Stay 2 nights near Selfoss at Fosshotel Nesbud or Hlid.
Day 13 - Visit Gullfoss Waterfall, Geysir Hot Springs, Kerid
volcanic crater and Thingvellir National Park. Why not go horse back
riding tour at the nearby horse ranch?
Day 14 - Reykjavik - enjoy a walk through down town Reykjavík
or exploring the many art museums.
Overnight in one of our Fosshotels in Reykjavik or similar.
Day 15 - Depart for home.
