Board your overnight flight to Glasgow

Fly into Glasgow Airport and make your way to Edinburgh on your own.
Time to rest, relax and explore Edinburgh. Overnight Edinburgh (5

Wednesday
8 December
Edinburgh holds one of Europes finest Christmas festivals with
a month-long programme bringing warmth and festive cheer to Edinburgh
as the city transforms itself into a magical winter wonderland with
lots of activity centred around the world-renowned Princes Street
Gardens. This morning your local guide will collect you for a walking
tour of the main attractions and a visit to Edinburgh Castle. Free
time for lunch then re-join your group for a visit to the Palace of
Holyroodhouse. The Palace is The Queens official residence in
Scotland and stands at the end of the Royal Mile.
Thursday
9 December
Today you have an entire day at leisure to indulge in some Christmas
shopping. You should definitely make your way to East Princes Street
Gardens for the Christmas market. This evening you are to have dinner
at The Witchery, located in an historic 16th century building at the
gates of Edinburgh Castle. James Thomsons Witchery is the most
atmospheric and spectacular dining destination in the city. Gilded
antique leather screens, polished church candlesticks, and opulent
red leather seating completes the setting of this magical dining location.
The Witchery has developed a world-wide reputation for sensational
food and sources the very best of Scotlands produce.
Friday
10 December
This morning your coach will collect you and transfer you to Glasgow.
On arrival your local guide will take you on a sightseeing tour of
the city. Your tour will include a visit to Glasgow Cathedral, the
only mainland medieval cathedral to have survived the Reformation
complete. Free time for lunch and shopping before you meet your driver
for the journey back to Edinburgh.
Saturday
11 December
A day to indulge in Scottish history today with a visit to Bannockburn
Heritage Centre, in 1314 from this battlefield the Scots, led by King
Robert the Bruce, defeated Edward IIs English army. On then
to Stirling Castle, the childhood home of Mary Queen of Scots. The
castle has fine Renaissance architecture, a restored Great Hall, and
tapestry weaving examples. Free time for lunch and Christmas shopping
before a late afternoon visit to Argylls Lodging, an attractive
townhouse decorated as it would have been during the 9th Earls
occupation, around 1680.
